Description of Significance THE OLD SCIENCE BUILDING IS A THREE-STORY NEOCLASSICAL STYLE BUILDING ON THE CAMPUS OF SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY IN WEATHERFORD. BUILT IN 1909, THE SCIENCE BUILDING IS ONE OF THE OLDEST EXTANT BUILDINGS ON CAMPUS. ITS OUTSTANDING FEATURE IS A PORTICO WITH A TRIANGULAR PEDIMENT, SUPPORTED BY SIX, FIFTY FOOT IONIC COLUMNS ON THE FRONT ELEVATION. AT ONE TIME, THE BUILDING HOUSED AS MANY AS SIXTEEN DIFFERENT ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS, INCLUDING SCIENCE. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 2/23/1984.
